GARDENS & FLORALS
Mya Kerner is pleased to offer aesthetically and sustainably conscious garden and floral design in the Seattle area. Partnering with Zak Helenske, their service provides nearly two decades of combined experience in fine art, craft, and design. Mya and Zak work with their clients personally to create balanced, diverse, aesthetically rich, and continuously growing outcomes.
About the Designers
Emerging from a lineage of foresters and gardeners, Mya focuses on the therapeutic aspects of the garden, and applies her appreciation for natural beauty in her floral designs. Mya is currently studying Holistic Landscape Design in order to expand upon her experience in horticulture, as well as her degree in sculpture and environmental design. With this education, Mya hopes to enrich gardens with biodiversity and herbal knowledge catered to each, individual client's needs. Working with the landscape instead of against it, Mya views the garden as a canvas and the vase, a vessel, to express the wonder of nature.
Zak continues his pottery practice as a resident at Pottery Northwest. He considers pots as "a part of our domestic infrastructure, facilitating rituals of nourishment, cooking, and gathering. [He is] interested in the sentiment of these objectsand the aesthetic value of their usefulness." The garden and floral designs utilize his hand-made objects whenever appropriate, but Zak offers a unique perspective in the creation of gardens.
Together, Mya and Zak pull from their combined experiences in art, craft, landscaping, design, architecture, set design, construction, florals, and fashion - to curate a holistic experience for each of their clients.
